High
definition provides a high resolution compared to a standard definition
television so the image and sound are made to appear incredibly clear. It displays detailed images with far better
picture colour, it is sharp, clear, and has life like images compared to a
standard TV or film. The image also appears to be wider than ordinary. Below are
examples of the difference between high resolution and low resolution images.
The Internet
The internet is obviously the most useful
and popular global network used by millions of people. According to internet world stats, there was an estimated 2,267,233,742
Internet users worldwide. Nobody owns the internet or controls it so
unlike online services which are controlled, it is decentralized by design.
Each independent person can chooses which internet services to use and which
services to make available to the global internet community.
Interactive TV
Interactive TV is a system which enables
viewers to give feedback information or orders in response to advertisements.
This is through an electronic device called a set up box. The newest addition
to set up boxes allows viewers to access E-mails via the internet.
Digital TV
Digital TV is a new way of receiving
television signal from TV companies. Digital TV broadcast better quality sound,
a higher definition picture and a lot more variety of channels. It allows users
to access information by viewing menus to view programs on a range of channels.
There are a variety of different digital TV types such as digital terrestrial,
digital satellite TV, digital cable TV, telephone line digital TV &
internet protocol television.
Analogue TV
Everywhere in the UK no longer use analogue
TV due to “The big switch off” which consisted off everyone switching to
digital TV and no longer using analogue. Analogue TV is a device that receives
and displays broadcast television signals that are transmitted similar to radio
transmissions. The bad thing about analogue TV is that it was known for
interference in the picture quality such as ghosting or snow. Also, the lines
in the image are transmitted first, then all the even lines, resulting it to be
perhaps unclear.
Satellite TV
Satellite TV is a popular choice for many
people in the UK. They are metal dishes which appear on peoples roof tops. More
consumers every day are luring into the major satellite TV companies which
provides movies, sporting events and global news promising the best movie
quality and sound picture. It transmits programming through a radio signal. The
picture briefly demonstrates how the signaling works.
